Big leaf scars.


    
April 16, 2009. These "twigs" were littering the ground. They must be
previous-year leaf stems. All the same size, with one end flared. In fact,
it is probably a givaway as to the species of tree in Ottawa to see the ground
littered with these 3 foot "twigs". The tree seems to have no buds, and some
ends of twigs have a hanging ribbon.
