Hawthorn (Crataegus)

Leaves

May 10, 2008 at Fletcher's (Arboretum). Hawthorn have leaves which are not very different from birch and similar species but look ragged, as if they'd been torn in places, or chewed on. The base is often wedge- shaped.

Bark

A better photo of bark needed. Note the thorns.

Flowers

May 22, 2008 on Queen Elizabeth Dr traffic island, west of Bank St., at about the Greek embassy. The flower has five flat white petals, fairly large, in the species seen so far.
