The stems are not always red. They can be mainly brown or grey, but turning red in areas.
Young shoots are mainly green.

Though yellow, these may be red osier dogwood. Wait for leaves and see.

The flower cluster has a fair-size stem, which may help differentiate it from other dogwoods.
